Mindful Living Certification

Sometimes we think it's selfish to take time out for ourselves but when we feel good not only does our well being benefit, it radiates out to those around us.  So, whether you want to discover a more authentic you; improve your well being; learn to tackle stress or worry;  or begin a teaching pathway, the 9 week mindful living course has something for you.  Each week you'll attend a two hour taught session where you'll:

  • experience the benefits of resting the mind and gain the skills to do it
  • understand the relevance of those important signals in the body
  • learn about the connections between our thoughts and emotions
  • challenge the interaction with thoughts, particularly the inner critic
  • understand the scientifically proven power of kindness and compassion
  • understand how we achieve emotional balance in challenging situations
  • learn to explore difficult experiences to understand what might be beneath
  • explore and learn to understand your inner world

The true power of mindfulness comes from practicing and each module contains themed guided practices.  It's recommended that applicants follow a daily practice of 20 to 30 minutes to develop mindfulness and meditation skills. A free app is provided to support this and the app also contains all of the course material.

Jayne, Aintree

"I can't rate this course highly enough!
I joined at a time when I was struggling with anxiety. Julie's voice is so calming, she taught me a lot about how the mind works, it was really interesting and a lot of what she said really resonated with me. I now feel as though I have 'tools' that I can use to calm my mind going forward and will definitely continue using the app."

Angela, Aintree

"I found the mindfulness course really helpful in many ways. It has become an anchor in my day, something I look forward to. Although I was unable to attend all of the sessions, the App is really good. I can go back and practice different aspects of mindfulness, or choose what I feel I need on any certain day. Julie’s delivery was gentle and supportive. I was made to feel at ease by Julie and the other participants, who really were a beautiful group of humans! ❤️"

Why Mindfulness?

In Eastern cultures the wisdom teachings of mindfulness have been passed from generation to generation whilst the West have turned to science to comprehend the complexities of what it is to be human.  That story changed when the Dalai Lama was invited to work with American scientists keen to use MRI to understand the complexities of the brain and nervous system. We're living in a unique period of history, where science finally has the tools to begin to uncover the benefits of mindfulness and it's ability to reshape the connections in our brain.

In simple terms, mindfulness is a way of being in the present moment, observing the experience of our inner world without judgement.  It's a skill that we're born with but it fades as the mind becomes more dominant.  This course uncovers the skill that already lies within as we learn to retrain our attention becoming more aware of our experience as it happens.  This knowledge of how we really are allows us to get in touch with a more authentic sense of self encouraging us to turn away from the patterns that no longer serve our best interests.

Mindfulness is a powerful yet unique experience where we all progress at our own pace.

"Mindfulness - skills for life"

Mindfulness - coming to know our authentic selves

Whilst we think of ourselves as rational, logical people, the science suggests that we continually hustle with our emotional landscape. Our thoughts and emotions play tennis, each spurring the other on, mostly outside of our awareness.

Unobserved this leaves us at the mercy of the coping strategies the developing brain created in our infant years.  These fast reactions are crucial for keeping us safe, but an over cautious mind can leave us feeling on edge when there is no real danger.

Mindfulness is a way of building the skills to observe our experience without self judgement.  We learn to notice our patterns and gain personal insight into what fulfills us and what takes us off track.  With practice we develop a mindful pause, a split second gap where we gain the opportunity to choose whether we follow the old path or create a new one.  Our brain is capable of forming these new patterns.

This can help us to get less caught up in the automatic processes of the inner world experiencing less stress or worry; better rest and a stronger immune system.  Having greater emotional control contributes to our happiness and well being.  It can bring us peace of mind and empower us to shape our lives in a more purposeful way.  This becomes beneficial not just to ourselves but those we are closest to.

More Details

Why mindfulness?

Mindfulness has been a feature of Eastern culture for thousands of years.  We are all born with the capacity to be mindful but somewhere along the way our busy minds take over.

Mindfulness is a gentle way of approaching our experience which unfolds uniquely for each of us. It allows us to start where we are, and go at our own pace simply working with the edges.

Meet your instructor

Mindfulness has changed my life in so many ways.  It's helped me to work with stress, deal with narcissism and to live each day in colour.

What I love about this course is the information it provides around how our mind and body works.  These little insights really encourage us to take a step back and reflect on our inner world.

The language of the guidance also delivers a sense of safety and curiousity.

I work better with small groups and believe this creates space to talk and learn from each other without the awkwardness that might arise in larger gatherings.
